About Sarah

ASSOCIATE COGNITIVE AND BEHAVIOURAL THERAPIST

Sarah Cosway

In a world tailored to the neurotypical, navigating the complexities of daily life can be both confusing and profoundly challenging for neurodivergent individuals of any age.

As a parent of a child on the Autistic Spectrum, I’ve experienced first hand the difficulties of supporting a child through everyday obstacles, whilst simultaneously negotiating a social support system that often leaves parents feeling exhausted and disempowered.

Drawing on the principles of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), I support neurodivergent adolescents, and the parents of neurodivergent children of any age, equipping them with practical coping strategies to build confidence, resilience and self-esteem in everyday life.

I am a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist accredited by the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapists (BABCP), who is passionate about empowering neurodivergent children and their families in navigating life’s challenges.

From 2013 to 2021, I worked within the NHS’s Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) service, initially as a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner and then as a CBT Therapist. During this time, I supported individuals with common difficulties such as anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and burnout, along with supporting a specific patient population who were experiencing long term health conditions.

In 2021, I established my own practice, which allows me greater flexibility in meeting the diverse needs of my clients.

My approach is collaborative and compassionate, aiming to create a supportive and trusting partnership - I recognise that parents and children bring their own unique insights, strengths, and experiences to the therapeutic journey. Together we work to build resilience and empowerment, equipping the individual with tools that they can continue to use and refine long after our sessions have ended.

Whether you’re seeking help for your neurodivergent child or looking for strategies to manage your own well-being as a parent, I can provide support tailored to your individual needs.
