Stella Parkinson Occupational Therapist

ASSOCIATE OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST

Stella Parkinson

To support children I draw on my knowledge of sensory diets specific to the child, The Alert Programme, Zones of Regulation, The Cognitive Orientation to Occupational Performance (CO-OP), Sensory Circuits, the Five Point Scale, and Social Stories.

I qualified in 2010 with a Master’s in Occupational Therapy from London Southbank University, and I have been working in paediatrics ever since. I am passionate about providing effective, evidence-based therapy for children to help them become as independent as they can be. I keep the child and family at the centre of my practice, ensuring goals for treatment are patient-centred. Throughout my work in the NHS I have helped children from 0-19 years with a range of difficulties and diagnoses, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Cerebral Palsy, Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD), Down’s Syndrome as well as genetic disorders.

As a highly specialist OT, I have been providing Occupational Therapy support to children with ASD and an EHCP who are based with special resource provisions in mainstream schools. This work has been hugely rewarding, and I have gained valuable specialist knowledge of working with children with this diagnosis.

To support children I draw on my knowledge of sensory diets specific to the child, The Alert Programme, Zones of Regulation, The Cognitive Orientation to Occupational Performance (CO-OP), Sensory Circuits, the Five Point Scale, and Social Stories.
